Trump Big Oil Plans

US Elections Are Legal.., so long as Trump wins

Trump, appears openly fearful that a Congress controlled by Democrats could investigate him, impeach him and / or stymie his agenda. He is using every tool he can find to influence the 2026 midterm elections and, if his party loses, it will sow doubt in their validity.

2025 National Economic Poll

A recent Gallup poll finds 24% of Americans satisfied and 74% dissatisfied with the way things are going in the country, which is unchanged from November, but more negative than all other readings since January. As recently as May, 38% of U.S. adults were satisfied with Trump.

Many of these endeavors go far beyond typical political persuasion, challenging long-established democratic and legal norms.  They include unprecedented demands that Republican state lawmakers redraw congressional districts before the constitutionally required 10-year schedule, the prosecution of political opponents, a push to toughen voter registration rules and attempts to end the use of voting machines and mail ballots.

In less than a year since taking office in 2025, Trump and his administration has, among other questionable acts…

  • .Gutted the role of the nation’s cybersecurity agency formerly dedicated to protecting U.S. elections;
  • ..Stocked the Justice Department, Homeland Security Department and FBI from top to bottom with unqualified political appointees who deny the legitimacy of the 2020 election;
  • …Given a White House audience to people who, like the president, promote the lie that he won the 2020 election;
  • ….Sued over state and local election policies that Trump opposes;
  • ….. Called for a new census that excludes noncitizens,
  • ……Gutted national scientific leadership in key areas of national interest; environmental, climate, and clean energy; Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mission no longer guided by public health benefits and the protection of national environmental assets,
  • …….Enacted a National Energy Policy reversal; a throwback to a time when fossil fuels and their health, economic, environment costs were the only energy option available to the United States and the world.

From the merits of reducing air pollution to the health benefits of avoided public health costs incurred ranging from costs linked to asthma attacks and premature deaths, President Trump has directed the E.P.A. to stop tallying public health benefits by curbing two of the most widespread deadly air pollutants; fine particulate air pollution matter and ozone, and dismantling other regulated pollution standards governing industry (according to internal agency emails and documents reviewed by The New York Times).

Trump has demonstrated his ability to orchestrate wide-ranging efforts and media strategies which effectively followed the Heritage Foundation “Project 2025” manifesto designed to support his second,and successful, presidential election attempt in 2024. However, this second time around did not mirror his failed 2020 election campaign for the Presidency. Then candidate Trump effectively rewrote history (again) in an attempt to reverse the 2020 presidential election results, an election he clearly lost.

Trump’s re-election loss in 2020, later culminated in the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, days before he and the Nation faced the reality of Trump’s failed re-election and the attempts to discredit the the results favoring a newly-elected President, Joe Biden (D).

Today

Only 31% of Americans find Trump trustworthy, a new low according to an August 2025 Economist/YouGov survey. This is down from 38% at the start of his second term in January 2025.

Trump cast this year’s elections in existential terms in a speech to House Republicans this month, telling them that Democrats would impeach him if they win a majority. He teased the notion of canceling the elections but said he wouldn’t because he’d be accused of being a dictator if he did.

For better or worse, Donald J. Trump today is president of a divided United States, and operating as a one-man political party without the checks and balances of good governance, and as a leader of a system of representative government — which until recently, made America the envy of the world.   Today,there is no one to say NO…, with the future of America hanging in the balance.
